Okay! - So here's the information

The chapters surrounding the South Midlands and Oxfordshire have arranged an 'All Chapters Meeting' at Stratford-upon-Avon on Sunday 3rd August 2008 - Now, I enjoy my biking as much as the next Knight, but even I think that 350 mile round trip is a tall order for a meet.

So, how about making it a weekend - Camping at quiet recommended campsite in a pub at nearby Bideford-upon-Avon - I have sourced details of what I think will be an ideal site just yards from the river Avon, close to Stratford upon Avon (6 miles) every day local ammentities in Bideford (1 mile on foot 2 miles by bike), Evesham local market town (6 miles) Chipping-Campden and Broadway (The Jewel of the Cotswolds) (7 miles) Morton-in-the-Marsh and Stow-in-the-Wold (9 miles) and historic Warwick only (8 miles) Loads to do and see in the local area.

The pub itself is legendary with the CAMRA crowd, selling a variety of good ales including Sheperds Neame 'Spitfire' and 'Black Sheep' but labours under the unfortunate name of 'The Cottage of Content' - (I know, all sounds a bit 'Blue Oyster Bar' to me too!) and I don't know quite how I feel about camping on a site which has the words 'Con' and 'Tent' in it's title, but all of the camping reccomendation sites, have it as being very good and the pub as being a magnet for tourists, narrowboaters and locals alike - the menu (I have a copy) is brilliant with all meals costing less than £10.

Camping is £10 per pitch/per night - and I have reserved 3 x pitches (provisionally) because the site is very popular and will be fully booked by summer if we don't act quickly. Liz (the proprietor) is happy to have BK on site and has promised that if interest is good, and we need to book more pitches, she can accommodate us.

So. How about it!

I shall definitely be going even if I am on a 'Billy-no-mates' expedition, but I would dearly love some company from England XII knights.

Will have to learn that BK events often clash in the summer (Ha! that's a laugh)! months.

Have now been in touch with Alan Morris President of the England VIII Chapter, and indeed their 'Belvoir Camping Weekend' falls on the same weekend as Belgium VIII and the 'All Chapters Meet' on Sunday 3rd August at Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Due to this, I'll cancel Bideford and the 'Cottage of Content' for another time. And will join with John, Keith and (possibly) Steve for Belvoir weekend.
(If you would let me know the travel arrangements, I'd be obliged).

Unfortunately the "Lovely lady Donna" won't be able to attend as she is scheduled to work the weekend of 1st and 2nd Aug.

Dave W. If you still want to come to Stratford-On-Avon on the Sunday, I'll still be going to the 'All Chapters Meet'

Thanks for your help and advice - (We newbies need all we can get you know) Razz !

Hi Rick,
To meet up on route-what would be the best place. Would you travel A64 to its junction with A1 or travel along M18 to its junction with A1. What ever will be travelling down A1 from Knaresborough on R1200RT.
Keith.

Steve

I'm not sure what this years cost will be, last year the camping was £5 there's a great pub on-site with very good bar meals & ale!! Breakfast was a bacon roll for a couple of quid so I'm expecting something similar this year.

Hi Rick, You have got me and Heather interested now in Bideford and the all chapters meet in Stratford!! Just one thing, is there hotel type accommodation in the area? We are not the best of campers Laughing Wink

We would probably go for the entire week end Very Happy

Me and Heather are now booked into B&B just down the road from the camp site. Unfortunately Heather is working late on the Friday, so we will be travelling down on the Saturday morning, anyone know what the plans are for Saturday? Laughing

Geoff according to Alan Wright - there is breakfast at the Pub, followed by a ride-out into the Lincolnshire/Leicester countryside and Belvoir Valley. No mention at this time for what is being arranged for lunch. - I would suggest that Heather and yourself have an early brekky at the farmhouse then maybe all do the rideout together.

On Sunday, I think that there is a short run being arranged in the morning - but I am easy but we could get off early to have a look around Stratford or even Warwick castle before heading off back to Stratford and to the 'All Chapters Meet' on Sunday afternoon.

No fixed plans, Geoff, John, Keith & Steve - we can decide over a pint of 'Old Futtles Worzel Headsplitter' if you like!
