It's a bit in the distance, but it does get over booked, Scotland BK 2008 Rally, 29th-31st August. Is anyone interested in this rally. I intend sending off my deposit this week. See BK Scotlnd 1 web site for details.

Below is the info sent out from Scotland 1 in relation to this rally
===============================================
Please find attached a flyer and booking form for the 2008 Scotland 1 rally to be held 29-31 August 2008. As it says in the flyer, we have had over 300 attend at each of our last rallies, and they have been (more than) a sell out. We have had over 250 bookings by 31st December on the previous 2 rallies, and this one is definately first come, first served, so I would advise early booking.
Again, the rally will be used to raise funds for UKCOPS (www.ukcops.org )
This year we have added paypal as a method of payment. We have had to add a small surcharge to payments made by paypal (credit card). If you are booking several people at once, you may find it cheaper to use electronic transfer and share the costs between you. If however there are only 2 or 3 in your booking, it may be cheaper to use paypal. ALL payments must be in Sterling/GB Pounds
If you find there is no attachment with this email you can downlaod the document here
http://www.bkukic. co.uk/stuff/ whas%20like% 20us%20flyer. doc
Thanks for reading, and we hope to see you in 2008

Just in case any of the ladies do not fancy the bike ride up - my good lady being one of them - Pat will be taking the car and no doubt availing herself of the shopping trip to Edinburgh that is on offer !
Anyone who wants to share a lift let me know _________________ Steve Wilson |

Oh Hell!
The 'Lovely Lady Donna' has grabbed my credit card, and after some basic instruction from her sister, now knows what they are used for! (Boy, am I in trouble now)! - as a direct consequence Donna wants an extra day in Edinburgh to spend my hard-earned 'baw-beens' - So, won't be travelling back with y'awl on Sunday night.
Originally looked to the The Police Club, in Edinburgh which was reasonably priced at £70 pn - but was for room-only. Eventually found a good B&B for slightly less, but with great views of 'Arthur's Seat' and the Forth. -Aye Laddie, there's a wee bit of the Scot's in all a'wa

ONLY 3 WEEKS TO GO!
Would be good to travel up to Scotland on Friday as a Chapter if this meets with everyone's travel plans - Jude still car-bound due to injury recovery.
Some of you coming over on the 12th August to the 'Social' at Yedingham, can we discuss some travel arrangements then please?
Sort of Scotch Corner seems appropriate for 'The Gathering' - given the Celtic overtone to the rally - What do you think?

Ok - meeting place will be Scotch Corner as suggested at 12 mid day for a leisurely ride up to Edinburgh
Please let me know if you are intending to meet up there so we know who to expect _________________ Steve Wilson |

As Geoff cannot make it for mid day are we all ok to meet at Sedbury lay by at 1pm instead.
We cannot get in till after 4pm anyway so hopefully we have plenty of time.
If this is not ok for the majority I will revert back to the original time
Just got a Zumo 550 myself so we will be going in all directions no doubt ! _________________ Steve Wilson |

"The Lovely Lady Donna" and I are just back from our Jollies and back on the forum to see what is developing.
No problems for us to meet at Sedbury Lay-By at 1.00pm, happy to drop in with the majority plans.
Route:
I don't want to be seen to be making all of the decisions regarding route to Scotland, but obviously it's better to plan these things rather than leaving to chance on departure day. Also, Donna and I would rather get the holiday off to a start, by seeing some of the country that we are visiting in stead of taking the 'fastest' route to the rally. We also will need to have a nice 'reverse' route in reserve for when we come back home on the Bank Holiday Monday (as we are staying for an extra day in Edinburgh).
The route that I have programmed in my computer for the trip up to Tullyallen is as follows:
A1(M) up to A68 Junction - (Near Archdeacon Newton)
A68 (NW) to West Auckland to meet Jude and Jeff
Follow A68 to Corbridge
A68 (N) to Jedburgh (Stop-off for a coffee)?
A68 (N) - "The Street" past Newstead and Melrose onto the A6091 (W) to the outskirts of Galashiels.
A6360 (W) to join the A72 (W) through Walkerburn, Cardrona, to Peebles.
Remain on the A72(W) becomes the A721 Blyth Bridge, Elsrickle, Newbiggin, Carnwath to Carluke where road becomes the A73 (NW) to Airdrie.
(N) to Cumbernauld joining the A80, Castlecary (NE) to join M876 outside Bonnybridge.
M876 (NW) past Bellsdyke, Letham and over the Kincardine bridge over the Forth, and arriving at Tullyallan Castle a couple of miles (N) of the Kincardine bridge.
Any views gratefully received, looked to be a nice route on the maps, and off the main drag except for the inevitable 'sizing-up' of the approach roads to Kincardine.
Total distance 167 miles - taking 4 hours, excluding fuel/comfort-breaks etc.
"Buff" - (Deeply tanned, salt-rimed, windswept and interesting)! _________________ "Objects in rear mirror no longer matter"....... |
