I'm looking at a trip down to Les Gets in the South of France next year. It's down by Mont Blanc and is a beautiful part of the world - even if they do speak funny. Accommodation would be at Chalet Russell, which is run by ex traffic cop Jack Russell and his wife Kathy. A lovely place and Kathy is a cordon bleu chef.
Outline plan is to leave UK via Hull-Zeebrugge on Thu 5th Jun taking a day and a half to ride down - 550 miles ish - arriving on Saturday by lunch.
Leave the following Thu morning to catch the ferry back on Fri 13th!!!!!
I am trying to get the same ferry deal of £105 return for bike/person/cabin
The cunning plan is that the ladies could fly down from Leeds Airport on Sat 7 Jun and fly back on either the day we leave or stay an extra day+ and return on Sat. This would cost £72.88 Flights depart UK 1210 arr Geneva 1510 and depart Geneva 1540 arr UK 1640.
The accommodation would cost us £35 pppn including food and wine/beer and also airport transport and running around transport where required.
There is no limit to the numbers we can take as Jack also manages 3 other chalets in the village so accommodation is no problem.
Hopefully we may be able to organise something with one of the Swiss Chapters for hook-up.
I know it's a long way off but if you are interested please email me so I can make a cunning plan |

Phil
As discussed previously put me down - probably the wife as well but she will fly.
Flights are also available for as low as £60 but thats from East Midlands so not as handy. _________________ Steve Wilson |

Hi Phil, plse keep me posted - I fancy making some noise in France - Although I understand, if motorcycles make loud noises - the hoteliers can be fined if the riders stay with them - Has anyone heard this story or was I dreaming it!!. Dave W |

no problem down there, they have a harley rally nearby every year - and anything that doesn't make a noise don't qualify as a bike!!!!!!!!!! |

I appreciate it is just coming up to Xmas etc, but we really do need to look at
numbers attending the trip. To get decent discounts we need to book well in advance and there is also the danger of flights going up in price the longer you leave it. Please have a think and get back to me as soon as possible if you would like to go on the trip. There will be sunshine!! There will be beer!! It will be better than being here!! |

I am still up for this ride - hopefully santa will bring me a new bike to ride all that way on !
Did think about going Dover / Calais and stopping the night before in a £19 travelodge but will go with the flow _________________ Steve Wilson |

We really need to make our minds up now for this trip. We are filling our diaries in for 2008. Things are popping up already including England XIV's very first rally 13th -15th June in somerset!
Phil tells me we have at this moment Phil & (Anne flying) Steve W & (Pat flying) Geoff & Heather biking and John Blake Biking.
To get the discount on the ferry we need at least another four bikes.
So guys, check your diaries, do you want to go or not? _________________ Geoff |

It would apear that the epic trip is clashing with the Belgium International Rally (6-8 June) and with England XV inaugural rally (13-15 June).
I, personally, would like us to support Eng XV on their first Rally, so to that end I am cancelling the run to Les Gets. Sorry to disappoint those of you who had already indicated they would like to attend.
There will be another time and who knows, there may even be a trip to Cyprus!!!!!!! |
