As luck would have it the annual Ridewell event hosted by Cleveland Police takes place on Sunday 6th July 2008 - the last day of our rally and will hopefully be attended by some of the members on the rally.

A link to the event is http://www.ridewell.org.uk/

The venue is no more than 15 minutes from the hotel at Preston Park and is an excellent day out.

I appreciate many members will be looking to start long journeys back home on the Sunday but those that are nearer to home will hopefully take the opportunity to attend

As you will probably know I am attending the Presidents meeting at Leicester on Sunday 9th March and I need to give the meeting an update on the rally. If anyone is definitely planning on attending the rally can you please let Steve Wilson know as soon as possible. There are at present only 6 members from our Chapter that have made a booking. For the rally to be a success all Chapter members need to support it. Please give your booking to Steve as soon as possible. Wink

Planning is well advanced now for the rally in July and at present we have 57 people attending with room for a few more.

We will be having a polo shirt printed and would like to get some idea of numbers so that we don't overprint.

The shirts will be grey in colour and will have the White rose rally 2008 emblem on.

After taking advice from respected ladies we are informed that ladies do not prefer fitted shirts (?) and as a result there will only be the standard sizes available.

If you do require a T shirt please let me know by the end of April so that we can order. There is no need to pay until arrival at the rally and sizes will go from small to 3XL. There will be additional ones printed to cater for a late change of mind.

Thanks very much and see you all in July

Following a visit to the hotel last weekend by Geoff and myself we have now decided there are only limited places available with realistically only 12 places left maximum.

Anyone who wants to attend just the ride out only would be welcome in addition to those numbers.

We will be finalising numbers this month so if you still want to attend please let us know asap

Thanks

Dear All:

Just finalising details - for the stop off at Whitby for tea break.

Inspector at Whitby is looking to clear the car-park at the nick for us, not 100% certain yet but looking very promising for secure bike parking directly above the harbour.

Walk down to the ice-cream hostleries is only 2 minutes - waddling back up could take considerably longer!

Cheers!

All

The rally is now behind us but with some happy memories of people having a good time - The belgian national dance ?

I have had e mails of thanks from other chapters and ours which makes it all worthwhile. Lets not forget it was a team effort by the committee with help from Ann and Jo Sked which was invaluable and without which things would not have gone so smoothly.

For those that are not aware we raised £580 from the rally fee, £300 from the raffle ( Jo and Ann again !) and a donation of £20 from Sprotte, the EC Chairman.

This obviously made £900 and after a discussion with the board members and some of the other members we donated £100 from club funds to make a grand total of £1000 for our charity Zoes Place which we presented to Rachael from the charity on the Sunday at a wet Ridewell.

I thought that was a magnificent sum and outweighed by far what I thought we would achieve and it is thanks to the generosity of the Blue Knights and to Jo's tenacity that we raised that amount.

We did have a financial commitment to merchandise, some of which remains , so please contact Phil if you require a baseball cap, rally T shirt or rally patch and pin.

The raffle prizes totalled an estimated £850 in value with the joint top prize of a £100 Hein Gericke voucher and a £100 pair of boots going to Pony Moore and Dave Williams respectively. However John Blake did a quick deal when it was found the boots did not fit Dave !

There was a prize of a free MOT at a garage in York which went to - would you believe of all people Mike Ripsch who had to be the most unlikely to cash it in.

All in all an excellent weekend and if anyone fancies a little trip to "Knights in the Belvoir" 1st to 3rd August then join Rick, John Ward, Keith Eccles and myself for that one.

Regards

Promise to get my diary better organised next year. Managed the Rideout though and thoroughly enjoyed the company. Thanks to all the "Sub-Aqua Squad" Like sub tropical weather but the monsoons are something else!
